Legacy and Leadership: UNICEF Speeches
Audrey Hepburn used her publicity in order to raise awareness for UNICEF charities. Audrey Hepburn made a positive influence on society by notifying the public, through speeches, of the less fortunate and promoting human rights. In her speech she stated "UNICEF's mandate is to protect every child against famine, thirst, sickness, abuse, and death" (Hepburn). Additionally, Hepburn used Pathos in order to receive an emotional response from the audience, persuading them to help the children in need. This is evident when Hepburn stated "There is so much we cannot do. We cannot give the children back their parents, but we can return to them their most basic human rights, their right to health, cleanliness, and life" (Hepburn). Moreover, "The Hepburn presence at such fundraisers always inspires off-the-scale effusion-people gush whenever they meet her" (Seigel). This showed that people were affected by her words and responded in happiness because of the huge differences she made in the World.
