Legacy and Leadership: Raising Donations for Underdeveloped Countries

Audrey Hepburn devoted the remainder of her life by continuing her humanitarian efforts. "She left filmmaking more than 25 years ago to raise a family and now devotes herself to her humanitarian work" (Seigel). By devoting all of her time towards her duties as an UNICEF special ambassador "her efforts helped the agency raise $1 million for relief in Ethiopia" (Seigel). The money the raised for underdeveloped countries helped "provide clean water for villages and clothing for young children" (UNICEF). Additionally, Hepburn's monthly pay for working for UNICEF was $1 (Flonder). Audrey Hepburn’s humanitarian efforts helped raise awareness all around the world and lead to future celebrities joining the UNICEF. Her advocacy for UNICEF was completely voluntary and caused an improvement in child development, education, disability, water and environmental sanitation, and women and children's rights.
