BACKGROUND

1950s. Hepburn was an actress and a special ambassador for UNICEF. She became a
special ambassador for UNICEF due to her terrible experiences as a World War II
refugee. As the special ambassador of UNICEF, Audrey Hepburn promoted child
welfare by raising awareness of child abuse and poverty worldwide. Audrey
Hepburn made many trips around the world in order to help children in need. She
helped restore sanitation and water sources in small villages.
